Los Cabos, first place in the world to receive the “Queer Destinations” certification

The recognition is awarded to destinations and companies committed to providing travelers with excellence, safety and responsibility towards the LGBTIQ+ community.

Los Cabos has become the perfect destination for LGBTIQ+ couples who wish to celebrate their love in an exclusive, diverse and luxurious environment. Globally, Los Cabos has been honored as a destination committed to this community under the recognition ‘Queer Destinations, Committed Destination’, thanks to its focus and training in the tourism industry to serve same-sex couples.

In addition, in 2021, the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) recognized it as one of the preferred destinations by the LGBTIQ+ community.

Since 2019, the authorities of Baja California have authorized equal marriages in Los Cabos, highlighting for their elegance and care in the details, thus expanding their options of ideal places to celebrate this special moment. Among them, the Hotel Barceló Grand Faro stands out, which offers a wide variety of spaces such as altars on white sands, terraces with stunning views of the sea and luxurious wedding halls to commemorate love in an unforgettable way.

In addition, in 2020, both the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa and the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort were awarded at the Gay Travel Awards 2020 as the best sun and beach destination in the region for the LGBTIQ+ community, adding more prestige to the offer of the area for this specific segment.

Another place that offers an exclusive experience to celebrate same-sex unions is the Hotel Marquis Los Cabos, which offers panoramic views of the Baja California peninsula and an exclusive all-inclusive space for adults recognized for its exceptional service and quality. This region not only stands out for its luxury, but also for its varied offer of activities that include beaches, water sports, as well as high-end restaurants and bars. This makes it an ideal destination to celebrate, adapting to different tastes.

It is relevant to mention that 19% of same-sex couples opt for a post-wedding celebration, compared to 6% of heterosexual couples, which highlights the diversity of options to commemorate these unions in this enclave.

Another essential aspect for couples celebrating same-sex marriages is to feel safe and comfortable in the place chosen for such a significant day. For this reason, today there is the distinction ‘Queer Destinations, Committed Destination’, which is awarded to destinations, companies and service providers committed to providing travelers with an exceptional standard of excellence, safety and responsibility towards the LGBTIQ+ community.

In addition, several hotels in the region have obtained this certification, among them Corazón Cabo, Hard Rock Los Cabos, Hacienda del Mar, ME Cabo and Paradisus Los Cabos stand out, which guarantee LGBTIQ+ couples a safe and welcoming environment for their celebration.
