Los Cabos expects occupancy above 80 percent in second “bridge” of the year

San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur. The second “bridge” or long weekend is planned from March 15 to 18 and according to data from the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico, Los Cabos will be the third tourist destination with the highest hotel occupancy.

The SECTUR reported that the arrival of one million 647 thousand tourists to hotels is estimated, which represents a recovery of 4.1% compared to the same ‘bridge’ of 2023; around one million 200 thousand will be national tourists, that is more than 70 percent and just over 300 thousand will be foreigners.

In addition, one million 900 thousand more national tourists will stay in another form of lodging, such as in the house of relatives and friends, as well as in second residences; so that the total of national tourists is calculated to be three million 291 thousand tourists.

The hotel occupancy at the national level will be 66.1 percent and in the particular case of beach destinations, it is projected that Puerto Vallarta will reach 84.5%; Cancun 83.4%; Los Cabos with 83%; Tulum with 81.8% and Mazatlan, with 79.6%.

This period of rest days is due to two causes: on Friday, March 15, the second Administrative Discharge of the 2023-2024 school year will take place, which is the moment when the teachers upload the grades of the students to the SEP system; the 21st of March is also commemorated for the Birth of Benito Juarez.

The Ministry estimates that the economic spill by consumption of tourist services will be 48,381 million pesos, only the spill for lodging concept will exceed 4 billion pesos.
