Hurricane Aletta WOULD HIT 11 states of Mexico in 2024: Arrival date and category

Mexico continues to recover from what was the passage of Otis on the coasts of Acapulco, and the 2024 hurricane season is already sounding, where Hurricane Aletta would be the first to arrive and the forecast indicates that it would hit 11 states from the country.

It is expected that in 2024 there will be at least 43 hurricanes that could reach Mexico, where most would only cause rain, strong winds and an increase in sea level, but perhaps some will have a devastating impact .

When will Hurricane Aletta arrive and what states would it affect?

Phil Klotzbach, a specialized meteorologist at Colorado State University, indicated that Hurricane Aletta will be the first of 43 hurricanes expected for 2024, which will appear between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.

The date on which the season will begin, and where Aletta will form, is from the beginning of May, with the exact day still undefined, as it will depend on certain conditions, but it is expected that the 43 climatic phenomena will end until November.

The forecast indicates that Hurricane Aletta would hit Mexican states such as Baja California, Baja California Sur, Colima, Chiapas, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, and Sonora, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean basin.

For now it is too early to define with what strength and what category this climate phenomenon will be, but we must remember that they are separated into 5 categories, which are the following:

  • Category 1: Winds of 19-153 km/h
  • Category 2: Winds of 154-177 km/h
  • Category 3: Winds of 178-208 km/h
  • Category 4: Winds of 209-251 km/h
  • Category 5: Winds of more than 252 km/h

It is expected that as the weeks go by, there will be more information about what Hurricane Aletta will be, in addition to other possible ones that will form in this 2024 season in Mexico.
