Inaugura Guatemala Consulado en Rosarito

The offices of the Honorary Consulate of Guatemala were inaugurated in Rosarito, which will become the home of the Guatemalan community residing in this municipality and will manage procedures to regularize their immigration status and also promote tourism and culture of that country in Mexico.

Raúl Flores Adame was named Honorary Consul of the Republic of Guatemala, in an official ceremony where the flag of this country was raised outside the new offices located on Benito Juárez Boulevard at the height of the colony of the same name.

Flores Adame mentioned that it is estimated that in Rosarito there are on average 800 Guatemalans and therefore it is intended to create an association to group them and with the support of the consulate in Tijuana all the procedures can be carried out to regularize their situation, since there are many people from that country who have stayed in Baja California, due to the migratory dynamics itself.

They seek to promote Guatemala as a tourist destination
He said that they intend to promote Guatemala as a tourist destination, since it has a great cultural diversity and unique places and sites that are worth knowing and a cultural market will also be prepared so that people can learn about the traditions, crafts and gastronomy among other attractions that this country offers.

In turn, the Consul General of Guatemala in Tijuana, Erick Cardona Chávez, said that in 2002 a consulate was opened in Tijuana to be able to serve migrants from that country and he thanked the strategic alliances that have been had with the different authorities of Mexico and particularly in Baja California where migrants are truly served with quality.

For her part, the mayor of Rosarito, Rocío Adame Muñoz, stressed that Baja California is a state founded by migrants and offered her support to the Guatemalans and welcomed the honorary consulate.
