The Búsquedas San José del Cabo collective reported the alleged disappearance of Jesús Rogelio Hernández Ledesma, who was reportedly detained along with another young man by police officers on Saturday, April 19, in the Guaymitas neighborhood of Los Cabos. So far, only one of the young men has been located, while the search for the other continues.
Through social media, the collective reported that one of the young men was located at the San José del Cabo municipal guardrail after the report was made public. According to the statement, authorities initially denied that the young man was there, despite family members arriving early in the morning.
“Two young men were deprived of their liberty in the Guaymitas neighborhood of San José del Cabo, apparently by ministerial police. Their families went early to see if any authorities had them, and they all denied that they were detained. When I made the first post after the families contacted my group, one of them automatically appeared as having been detained by the municipal police. This young man was at the guardrail where the relatives went early and had been told he was missing,” said Rosalba Ibarra, representative of Búsquedas San José del Cabo.
The group is demanding that Jesús Rogelio be returned alive. Given the lack of response from the authorities, they announced they will block main roads in Los Cabos as a means of pressure.
