Following a tour conducted by El Sudcaliforniano in different parts of the state capital, just over 100 active bakeries were identified in the urban area of La Paz, distributed across different neighborhoods.

The tour identified at least 108 establishments dedicated to the baking and sale of bread, both traditional and pastry shops, operating independently or under local franchises.

The central area of La Paz has 13 bakeries, including long-established establishments and new offerings that combine pastries and coffee shops. Twenty bakeries were registered in operation in the Los Olivos, Guerrero, 20 de Noviembre, Loma Linda, Loma Obrera, and El Esterito neighborhoods, located in the northwest of the city.

Twenty-three bakeries were registered in the area, which includes neighborhoods such as Pueblo Nuevo, Solidaridad, Las Garzas, and Indeco. Meanwhile, in neighborhoods such as Ocho de Octubre, Mezquitito, and Diana Laura, 11 establishments were identified.

The tour also included the Miramar, Paraíso del Sol, Villas del Encanto, Santa Fe, and San Fernando neighborhoods, where 14 operating bakeries were located.

Finally, in the southern part of the city—which includes El Progreso, Valle del Mezquite, and Península Sur-Tabachines—six establishments were found, while in neighborhoods such as La Fuente, Camino Real, Ayuntamiento, Arcoíris 2 and 3, Calafia, Olas Altas, and La Pitahaya, the count reached 21 bakeries.

In recent days, business activity in these types of businesses has seen an increase in customers, particularly between Tuesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 8, when continuous rains occurred as a result of Hurricane Priscila’s passage off the coast of Baja California Sur.

Although the figure obtained by El Sudcaliforniano does not correspond to an official record by the La Paz City Hall’s Commerce Department, an attempt was made to confirm the exact number, but an updated list of businesses in this sector was not available as of press time.

However, the count reveals the constant presence of these types of businesses in all areas of the city, from the city center to the most recent subdivisions.

These types of establishments continue to be part of everyday commerce in La Paz, adapting to consumer demand even during weather conditions such as the recent rains associated with Hurricane Priscila.
