After the Ironman 70.3 competition was not held in Los Cabos in recent years, municipal authorities managed to secure its return for next year, solidifying the destination as a venue for high-level sporting events.

Alberto Rentería Santana, Secretary General of the Los Cabos City Council, explained that the event’s suspension was due to an outstanding debt from the previous administration.

“We were working with the Ironman team, an event that had not been held in Los Cabos. A payment of six million pesos was made; Ironman was not held due to a debt from the previous administration,” Rentería Santana stated.

The Los Cabos City Council indicated that Mayor Christian Agúndez, along with the Ironman 70.3 organizers, will announce the competition date in the coming days.

The return of Ironman 70.3 represents not only a boost to sports tourism in Los Cabos, but also an economic and promotional benefit for the destination, which will host national and international athletes.
