With Holy Week approaching and Spring Break underway, Governor Víctor Castro Cosío announced that the State Tourism and Economy Secretariat (SETUE) has been working directly with the U.S. Consulate to ensure the safety of foreign tourists.

This is due to the various armed conflicts occurring around the world, which, according to the governor, required coordinated actions between authorities in Baja California Sur and the United States during this holiday period.

He also explained that the conflicts caused by the war led many Americans to change their vacation destinations and choose Los Cabos for Spring Break and Holy Week.

“Protecting the young people who will be visiting us, many of whom changed their destinations for security reasons and came to Los Cabos—very good news—requires us to coordinate with our neighboring country in case anything arises,” he stated.

As reported by El Sudcaliforniano, Robín Hernández, president of the Association of Professionals and Business Leaders of Los Cabos, confirmed that the Spring Break season is progressing well.

He specified that 34,000 American students have arrived, with expectations of reaching 52,000 visitors this season, which would be one of the best figures in recent history.

Robin Hernández, who also coordinates Spring Break in Los Cabos, reported that so far there have been no incidents.

In this context, the Holy Week Operation has been activated, deploying more than 1,400 members of security forces and the Armed Forces to ensure the safety of both tourists and locals.

Likewise, Setue announced that during Holy Week – which runs from March 29 to April 5 – hotel occupancy is expected to reach up to 89% with the arrival of 126,000 visitors and an economic impact of approximately 640 million pesos.
