Man dies from poisoning at Los Cabos motel; authorities close case

Following an investigation by the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE), it was confirmed that the cause of death of the man found dead on Saturday, April 4, in a motel in the San Bernabé neighborhood of San José del Cabo, Los Cabos municipality, was drug overdose.

The discovery was made at midday on Saturday at an establishment located between Yeneka and Florezca streets. After receiving the report, agents from the State Criminal Investigation Agency (AEIC) and forensic experts arrived at the scene, where they found the body of a man, approximately 36 years old, on the bed in one of the rooms.

According to the official PGJE report, the forensic analysis revealed the following key findings:

Cause of death: Overdose due to illicit substance use (narcotics).
No signs of violence: No signs of struggle, self-defense, or violence were found on the body or in the hotel room.

Profile of the deceased: The deceased was approximately 1.86 meters tall, weighed 95 kilograms, and was wearing blue shorts when found.

After performing the legally required autopsy at the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) and processing the evidence collected at the scene, specialists ruled out the involvement of third parties in the death, thus closing the line of investigation regarding a possible crime.
