The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Miguel Torruco Marqués, reported that from January to November 2021, a flow of 31 million 686 thousand passengers was reflected on international flights, an amount higher by 76.5 percent than that registered in the same 2020 lapse.
Torruco Marqués released the results recorded from January to November 2021 in terms of international tourists by air and those who were transported by plane within the national territory.
He pointed out that in November, a total of 3 million 725 thousand passengers were transported on international flights, a level 12.9 percent higher than that registered in October 2021.
He argued that the figures for November of this year show an increase of 4.5 percent in the number of passengers on domestic flights, equivalent to 4 million 347 thousand; that is: 187 thousand 50 more travelers than those captured in October.
In the January-November period, the main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights were: Volaris and Aeroméxico, which together moved 6 million 607 thousand customers, a figure that increased by 85 percent compared to the same period in 2020.
While during the first eleven months of 2021, there was an increase of 58.2 percent in the number of passengers on domestic flights, equivalent to 39 million 742 thousand; that is: 14 million 619 thousand more travelers than from January to November 2020.
Torruco Marqués pointed out that in November 2021, the US airlines that presented greater mobility compared to October of this year were: American Airlines, with 534,932 passengers, a figure that increased by 21.2 percent; and United Airlines, with 452 thousand 967 travelers, with an increase of 12.7 percent compared to last October.
