During the early hours of this Saturday, a woman stole a patrol that was parked in the area of nightclubs and bars in the city of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, after which she was arrested.

According to a report issued by the Los Cabos Public Security Directorate, the events occurred at 12:25 p.m., when Maribel “N”, originally from Chihuahua , got on the patrol parked on the boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas, in the Centro neighborhood, shutting herself in, and after a few minutes she lit a cigarette.

After the noise, shouts and praise from some civilians who witnessed the events with cell phones in hand, Maribel “N” decided to turn on the patrol car and fled the scene. The first obstacle was a parked taxi: a Nissan Versa car that was pushed until it broke through and began its escape.

Municipal public security elements that were passing through the area activated the unit’s recovery protocol after being notified through a radio report.

The chase ended in the area of the sports fields of the Yenekamu sports unit.

After being caught up, several patrols blocked her way and managed to detain her. She was subdued and once she was taken down from the unit on the public highway, handcuffs were placed on her to secure her and make her available to the Public Ministry.

Authorities revealed that a forensic doctor carried out her assessment to rule out or confirm whether the person responsible had consumed alcohol or some psychotropic drug. At the moment this information has not been revealed so as not to violate the investigation folder.

Due to the facts, Maribel “N’ could face charges for the crime of robbery, which the Federal Penal Code provides for in article 367 and stipulates that up to two years in prison and a fine of up to one hundred times of minimum wages salary will be imposed.
