Los Cabos announces a direct flight from Frankfurt

A new strategic alliance will allow Los Cabos to receive more than 16,000 German tourists with the aim of reaching 4.5 million visitors throughout 2024.

In this way, the government of Baja California Sur and the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, in Mexico, consolidate the region as one of the Mexican destinations with the best international connectivity.

Los Cabos, one of the most exclusive and diverse tourist destinations in the world located at the southern end of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, strengthens its connection with Europe with a new air route through a direct flight from Frankfurt, Germany, operated by the luxury airline leader in transcontinental flights Condor Flugdienst.

This new connection, which will start operations next November, will strengthen the bond of the destination with Germany, one of the most relevant emerging markets for Los Cabos, and will guarantee a new direct connection from Europe to Spanish travelers.

The announcement took place at a press conference held on February 20, in Mexico City.

With the launch of the new air route, Los Cabos consolidates itself as one of the tourist destinations of Mexico with the best international connectivity, currently having direct routes from the United States, Canada and Spain.

Specifically, in 2023 the destination launched seven new national routes to connect with 16 airports in Mexico; seven international routes to connect with 30 airports in the United States, and three routes in Canada to add 11 airports in that country.

Likewise, in 2022 Los Cabos launched the direct flight that connects Madrid with the exclusive Mexican destination during the summer months, an initiative that will resume next June and until September after the success registered during the first two years of operation.

The Frankfurt-Los Cabos route will have two weekly frequencies from November to April, with a capacity for 310 passengers per flight. It is estimated that, thanks to this new connection, the destination will receive 16,000 visitors a year, registering a 490% increase in German tourists. These passengers would leave an economic spill of 1 billion dollars a year for the destination, positioning Germany among the most relevant international markets for Los Cabos.

In parallel, this new air bridge with Europe will encourage the arrival of more inclusive tourism to the destination, since the Condor airline offers travel packages of economy, premium and business class.

The alliance would encourage the influx of European tourists during the winter months, attracted by the wide range of experiences that the destination offers, from a mild climate and paradisiacal beaches, to adventure activities and unparalleled luxury experiences.

From the area of Training and Tourism Culture of the SETUE, Juan Carlos Cañedo expressed the pride of the State Government for expanding the connectivity of the destination, since it is the first regular airline that establishes a direct connection with the entity from Germany.

‘This new air bridge opens the door for Germans to enjoy unique experiences that combine nature, gastronomy and culture, all in an environment of safety and quality of service’.

On the other hand, the director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, Rodrigo Esponda, recalled that the work to achieve this milestone in the region began in 2019. ‘Since then, efforts have been made to coordinate logistical and strategic details. Although the Covid-19 pandemic paused the work, they were successfully resumed and today we announce this historic flight not only for Los Cabos, but for the entire State because it will encourage the arrival of more tourists to Baja California Sur’, he stressed.

Esponda emphasized the value of the collaboration between the public and private sector to achieve this milestone, highlighting the importance of working together to ensure the appropriate investments that consolidate the Los Cabos brand in new markets.

Thus, the strategic alliance with Condor will enhance the marketing and promotion of the destination, with the firm objective of amplifying the visibility of Los Cabos in the European continent.

The president of the Board of Directors of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, Mauricio Salicrup, celebrated that the destination ‘already shines with a healthy hotel occupancy and an unparalleled luxury offer, so this new air route does nothing but accentuate and consolidate our attractiveness, and opens the doors to visitors who seek exclusivity and authentic experiences in one of the best destinations in Mexico’.

Jens Boyd, Commercial Director of Condor, was enthusiastic about this new collaboration: ‘Los Cabos is at the top of the wish list of many Germans and has been on Condor’s list for some time. Flights to the attractive Pacific coast are possible thanks to the arrival of our new A330neo, in which our guests can expect the maximum travel comfort, the latest technologies, low kerosene consumption and a quiet flight. Whether in the new Economy cabin with ergonomic seats, a better sense of space and the latest generation of on-board entertainment, or in our exclusive Prime Seats in the first row of Business Class, where you will feel as if you were in your own suite’.
