With a prize pool of $2,716,000, the three-day sport fishing tournament Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore kicked off on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. For 26 years, this tournament has served as a prelude to the Bisbee’s Black And Blue.
In an atmosphere of festivity, celebration, and adrenaline, the starting shot was fired for what promises to be a tournament full of exciting experiences, aiming to capture the largest species of Marlin, Dorado, and Tuna in the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Accompanied by State Government authorities, the organizer of the Bisbee’s tournaments in Mexico, Clicerio Mercado, explained that for the first time in the history of the Los Cabos Offshore tournament, there will be three days of fishing, with 132 teams competing to give their all on the boat.
He explained that from the prize pool, a total of $250,000 will be contested daily in the Catch and Release category and $547,000 in jackpots.
“This year, the Bisbee’s Black and Blue tournament celebrates its 44th year, but this one, Los Cabos Offshore, is only 26 years old. Over all this time, the community has come to feel this tournament as their own; it’s no longer the little Bisbee’s, we’re going to find a new nickname for it,” he noted.
At the start, it was emphasized that both sport fishing tournaments have contributed to establishing Los Cabos as a tourist destination, not only by representing 30 percent of economic activity but also by promoting visits and diversifying the destination’s services.
