With a focus on stories that explore human values and social reflection, the 2026 International Spiritual Film Festival (FICES) is set to arrive in the municipality of Los Cabos as part of a national circuit scheduled to run from April 30 to May 13 in various regions of the country.

The arrival of this film festival in San José del Cabo was announced through the news channels of the Diocese of La Paz, which revealed that the municipality will be one of the participating venues for this traveling event.

FICES is promoted by the Episcopal Commission for Pastoral Communication (CEPCOM), in coordination with the Archdiocese of Guadalajara and partners in the film industry. Its main headquarters are located in the Chapala and Ajijic area of the state of Jalisco, from where a program is coordinated that extends to various dioceses throughout Mexico.

In this framework, Baja California Sur joins the festival route, becoming part of other states that are part of this initiative seeking to broaden access to cinematic content with a social and human focus.

The FICES 2026 selection includes more than 14 international productions, including feature films and documentaries. The curatorial approach focuses on stories that address themes such as human dignity, hope, love, reconciliation, and contemporary challenges.

The organizers have indicated that the festival is not limited to religious content, but rather includes works that promote reflection from diverse cultural perspectives, with an emphasis on universal values present in everyday life.

As part of its itinerant nature, the festival includes screenings in cinemas and venues affiliated with the participating dioceses. In San José del Cabo, the screenings will be integrated into the festival’s general program, in coordination with local authorities. Those interested are encouraged to stay tuned to updates posted on their digital channels, including their Instagram profile, @ficesmx.

The program is expected to include a diverse range of international films that have been part of similar circuits, offering audiences options beyond the usual commercial offerings.

The International Spiritual Film Festival has established itself as a platform that combines film exhibition and the dissemination of socially focused content, adding new venues across Mexico each year. In 2026, its presence in Los Cabos is part of this expansion, with a program that seeks to connect audiences with stories centered on the human experience.
