Dengue cases in Baja California Sur have doubled this year, exceeding 2,000, and the state ranks fourth in the country in incidence.
According to the epidemiological panorama of the federal Ministry of Health, as of the most recent cut-off – in the first week of November – the state has a total of 2,055 confirmed cases, while last year it closed with 897 confirmed cases of dengue, that is, an increase of 129 percent.
The available information showed that of the total number of cases, 1,499 have been non-serious, and 492 with warning signs. In addition, 4 deaths are reported in total.
The municipality of Los Cabos is the one that registers the highest number of confirmed cases of dengue, with 1,798 cases, which represents 87% of the total.
It is worth mentioning that the rest of the municipalities do report cases, but significantly less: Loreto, 84 cases; Comondú, 79; Mulegé 29 and La Paz, 67.
Baja California Sur is the fourth entity with the highest incidence of confirmed cases, per 100 thousand inhabitants: Colima occupies the first place, with 547; Nayarit, 370 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants; Morelos, 287 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants and followed by BCS with 236 cases.

The Ministry of Health reported that in view of the increase in cases, prevention and control work has been increased in Los Cabos, with fumigation brigades and home visits, as well as yard cleaning days.
It indicated that with the fumigation operations, 33 thousand hectares have been reached in that municipality, in colonies of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.
