American couple argues and police help them; they discover that a Mexican was kidnapped in Los Cabos

Two American citizens were arrested in the municipality of Ensenada, Baja California, for their probable participation in the kidnapping of a Mexican citizen that occurred last September in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.

In a joint operation, Baja California authorities managed to arrest two foreign persons wanted for the crime of Forced Disappearance in Baja California Sur. The capture took place in the Bahía neighborhood of the municipality of Ensenada, where agents of the State Force of Citizen Security (FESC) were carrying out surveillance and investigation work.

The detainees, identified as Katie June “N” and John Joseph “N”, both with dual American and Mexican nationality, were intercepted while arguing in public. When approached by the agents, they tried to evade the situation, but were finally subjected to a data verification through the Baja California Control, Command, Communication, Computing, Quality and Citizen Contact Center (C5) system.

This review confirmed that both had an active arrest warrant in Los Cabos, issued by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Baja California Sur (FGEBCS).

The arrest of Katie June and John Joseph occurred after confirmation of their search since September of this year, under case number GA/CSL1808/2024. They were subsequently placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Baja California (FGE), which is in charge of managing their delivery to the corresponding authorities.

During the operation, it was found that at the home of the detainees there were two minors, children of the couple, who were placed in the custody of the competent authority. Likewise, the rights of those arrested were respected, allowing them to make phone calls to their relatives and to the American Consulate.

The last time contact was made with Diego Gómez Lara was on September 14, 2024 in the vicinity of the El Tezal neighborhood and the Mistiq subdivision in Cabo San Lucas, according to local authorities. Since then, there has been no information on his whereabouts, which has led the Los Cabos City Council and the Baja California Sur State Commission for the Search for Persons to intensify efforts to locate him.

Diego Gómez Lara, 33, is originally from Mexico City, has a thin build, is 1.80 meters tall and weighs 85 kg. He has a dark complexion, with large brown eyes and black hair with gray, straight and short. On the day of his disappearance he was wearing a black shirt, black pants and black Skechers tennis shoes.

Among Diego Gómez Lara’s distinctive features are several tattoos: one on his left arm in the shape of a red heart with the legend “ORGAN DONOR”, another on his left forearm with the inscription “ILRUKYR”, and a tattoo on the back of his neck in the shape of wings. In addition, he has a tattoo on his right arm with the image of a xoloitzcuintle dog and another in the shape of a glass with ice and an orange. On the left collarbone is the legend “06/04/95.”

Mariana Lara, a woman identified on social media as Diego’s sister, directly pointed out that those arrested today had kidnapped her brother.

“This is John Boyle alias Jack. They kidnapped my brother on Saturday, September 14th along with Katie June Boyle! They have been on the run since Tuesday, September 17th. He is a VERY DANGEROUS man! A fraudster with a HUGE history of crimes against several people in Los Cabos BCS and Florida. Well, it seems that the earth swallowed them up! The authorities in Los Cabos just can’t and haven’t found them and my brother Diego Gómez Lara is still missing,” wrote the woman in a Facebook post on November 14th.
