Los Cabos to Host 32nd World Championship of Sport Fishing “Big Game Trolling”

The head of the Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources (Fonmar), Martín Inzunza Tamayo, announced that Los Cabos will host the 32nd edition of the World Championship of Sport Fishing “Big Game Trolling” from November 24 to 29.

Event Details

The championship will feature 92 fishermen from 14 countries competing for the highest scores in species such as blue, black, and striped marlin; bluefin and yellowfin tuna; sailfish; and swordfish.

International Support

Inzunza Tamayo highlighted that the event is supported by the International Confederation of Sport Fishing, emphasizing its importance due to its international projection, which provides an opportunity to showcase the natural environment of Southern California.

Participants

Luis Miguel García Pérez, president of the National Federation of Sport Fishing of Mexico, reported that the participating fishermen come from Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, the United States, France, England, Italy, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, Nicaragua, Portugal, and South Africa.

Mexican Delegation

The Mexican delegation will be represented by fishermen from Baja California Sur and Sinaloa. South Californian fishermen José Martín Talamantes, Antonio Talamantes, Antonio Talamantes Jr., and Carlos Hernández, who were selected in the national championship “Big Game Trolling” held in La Paz in April 2024, will also participate.
