Los Cabos left without water… but with new boobs: 20 million debt for cosmetic surgeries

In a twist worthy of a primetime soap opera (or an absurdist comedy), Saint Luke’s Hospital revealed that the Los Cabos City Council—under the administration of Professor Óscar Leggs Castro—left a debt of 20 million pesos for cosmetic surgeries. That’s right, while citizens struggled with water shortages, elsewhere in the operating room, curves were being refined, buttocks were being pumped up, and noses were being tuned with public funds.

For at least three years, the City Council and the hospital maintained an agreement to “support municipal employees and citizens with major surgeries.” What no one specified was that the “major” surgeries included liposuction, breast augmentations, and, apparently, some influencer-worthy facial enhancements.

“We never thought they would use the budget for that,” confessed a hospital worker who requested anonymity and whose outrage led him to leak the information. “It seems the city council’s slogan was: ‘Pay property tax! We urgently need to pay our buttocks and boobs.’”

With dry humor, the same worker questioned: “Is there any buttock of a congresswoman sitting in Congress that still owes?”

The ironic (and tragic) thing is that, while in the working-class neighborhoods, buckets were being filled with dripping water, in other corners, bras were being filled at the public expense.
