A new violent incident occurred early Wednesday morning in Baja California Sur. A 33-year-old man from Ciudad Constitución was found dead inside a home in the Miramar neighborhood, in the municipality of Loreto. The body had gunshot wounds, according to the State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE).
The discovery occurred shortly after midnight, following a citizen report of gunshots on 7th Street in the neighborhood. Public Safety and Municipal Transit officers responded to the scene, where investigative personnel and forensic experts later found the body with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
The area was secured for the collection of evidence, and the body was taken to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for a legal autopsy. The PGJE has already opened the corresponding investigation file.
This case brings the total to five violent deaths in Baja California Sur in less than three weeks. On May 23, an armed confrontation in Cabo San Lucas left one man dead and three wounded. Two days later, on May 25, another man was found dead in Ciudad Insurgentes, Comondú municipality.
On May 31, another body was found with gunshot wounds in the community of Puerto Chale, La Paz municipality. Finally, on June 2, a body with a head injury was reported found on a dirt road in San José del Cabo.
Authorities are continuing investigations into all of these cases, amid growing public concern over the upsurge in violence in various municipalities across the state.
