The Business Coordinating Council (CCE) of La Paz expressed its full support for the recent statements by the Governor of Baja California Sur, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, who reiterated the importance of continuing with investment projects that comply with current legal regulations.
“This position is a clear message of certainty for the state’s economic development,” the CCE stated in a joint statement.
The document establishes that the CCE of La Paz shares the vision of supporting projects that demonstrate strict adherence to all laws and regulations, including those related to environmental protection and sustainable development.
“The business chambers, associations, and associates that make up the CCE La Paz support responsible investment that respects the legal framework and, above all, the environment; as well as projects that contribute to balanced economic growth without compromising natural resources and the quality of life of communities.”
In particular, the Malecón District real estate project, referred to by the governor, stands out. It “represents an investment made by South Californians that fully complies with the required authorizations under current urban and environmental regulations.”
For the La Paz City Council, the project’s commitment to meeting the 33 conditions established in the Environmental Impact Resolution issued by SEMARNAT (Secretary of State for Environmental Protection) for the start of construction stands out. These include the following:
The Malecón District will not use the drainage network or the Esterito pumping station, as it will build its own wastewater treatment plant. Furthermore, it has agreed to sign an agreement with OOMSAPAS (National Water Commission) to collaborate on the modernization of the pumping station, with the aim of contributing to the solution of this urban problem.
The payment of fees and the provision of water flow to the La Paz OOMSAPAS (National Water Commission) have been fulfilled, in accordance with the project’s demand.
In coordination with the La Paz City Council, improvements will be made to the area’s street lighting.
Likewise, together with the SEP (Secretary of Public Education), work will be done to strengthen the school infrastructure in the neighborhood, implement a reforestation program, provide trash receptacles, and launch an environmental education program.
Additionally, restoration and cleanup projects will be carried out in two urban mangroves in the city of La Paz.
In collaboration with the authorities, the facilities at Francisco King Park will be improved, among other benefits projected for the area that will positively impact nearby neighborhoods and the rest of the capital city.
The CCE, according to the document, expresses its willingness to collaborate with authorities and investors to ensure that projects in the municipality of La Paz meet sustainable development standards.
“It is considered that economic progress and environmental protection can be complementary objectives, and cooperation between the business sector, government, and civil society is important to achieve a sustainable future,” it concludes.
The letter was signed by Canacar, Canaco La Paz, Canirac, Canacintra, Emprhotur, the Todos Santos and Pescadero Hotel Association, Canadevi, Cmic, and the CCE of La Paz.
