On the second day of the 2025 Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Sport Fishing Tournament, angler Mauricio Guluarte of Team “Burro” caught a dorado weighing 43.1 pounds; angler Ludovic Agassiz of Team “Never Say Never” caught a marlin weighing 650 pounds; and angler Ludovic Agassiz of Team Los Cabos landed a tuna weighing 294 pounds.
The fishing season will take place over three days, from Wednesday, October 15th to Friday, October 17th, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weigh-in is at the Puerto Paraíso plaza, opening at 2:00 p.m. and closing at 9:00 p.m.
The teams are competing to catch the largest species, such as marlin, dorado, and tuna, to win the prize pool of $2.8 million.
“Unlike last year, when there were 132 boats, the 26th edition of the tournament saw a historic 138 boats participate. This allows us to continue positioning the state of Baja California Sur as a world-class destination for sport fishing and high-end tourism,” said Clicerio Mercado, coordinator of the Bisbee’s sport fishing tournament.
The third and final day of fishing will begin this Friday, October 17, at 7:00 a.m., when the winning teams of the Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore tournament will be announced. Considered the smallest tournament, however, this year it broke a record for the number of participating teams, said Mercado Hernández.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday starting at 7:00 p.m. in Plaza Paraíso in Cabo San Lucas, where there will be live music and a grand celebration of this important sport fishing tournament.
These types of sporting events are very attractive primarily because of the multimillion-dollar prizes that attract high-end fishermen and tourists, generating significant economic benefits in dollars for the hotel and restaurant industry.
Cabo San Lucas Municipal Delegate Karina de la O Uribe stated that the tournament’s activities also benefit boats, transportation, food, and retail, in addition to its international reach.
As tournament organizer Glicerio Mercado has mentioned in previous editions, the Bisbee’s Black & Blue is considered the world’s multimillion-dollar tournament.
Because it accrues significant prizes, it also generates over 50 million pesos in monetary benefits, distributed among the various business segments in the destination.
