The Secretary General of the State Government, Saúl González, affirmed that the state administration has already identified at least six leaders linked to land invasions and warned that direct action will be taken against them to stop this practice.

He explained that these actions are necessary to ensure the viability of housing programs promoted by the Federal Government, since the invasions hinder the proper allocation of homes.

“It will be impossible to relocate a family to a new home only to find 20 more occupying the same space irregularly the next day.”

The official asserted that the authorities already know who is behind these practices, noting that there are leaders who mobilize people and profit from their need for housing.

“In the end, someone leads them there; we already know who they are. We have identified approximately six leaders, and we have to go after them.”

He added that the government has no ties to these groups and will therefore have zero tolerance for these actions.

González explained that many of the invaded properties are located in federal zones, particularly along streams, which poses a risk to families.

“The land along streams is federal property, and the people who have invaded it do not own their land.”

In this context, he reported that they are working in coordination with ejidos (communal landholdings) in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo to ensure that families have legally secure housing.

The secretary acknowledged that one of the main challenges is finding suitable spaces to relocate the families currently living in irregular settlements.

“We have another problem: we have them, but where are we going to put them? We have to thoroughly prepare where we are going to relocate these families.”

The State Government is also acting as an intermediary to ensure that families acquire land legally, preventing fraud by false leaders.

He also denounced that some groups are evicting families who cannot pay illegal fees, replacing them with others. Finally, he warned that the government is already taking action against new land invasions, with arrests and legal proceedings underway.

“Every time there’s an invasion and we aren’t notified, we’re stopping it and arresting the people involved. There are open cases against those who have attempted to invade.”
