In Cabo San Lucas, a free spay and neuter clinic for dogs and cats will be held in the 4 de Marzo neighborhood. It will take place over three days: Monday, April 20, Tuesday, April 21, and Friday, April 24.
The Municipal Health Institute announced that the service will be free, but space is limited, so appointments are required by calling (624) 132-1454.
They also explained that these campaigns aim to bring veterinary services to neighborhoods, making them more accessible to residents free of charge.
To ensure pets can be spayed or neutered safely, the institute requested that certain conditions be met before surgery.
Among the main requirements is that pets must fast for at least eight hours before the procedure. Females must not be pregnant, nursing, or in heat.
These measures are in place to prevent complications during the operation and ensure the animals are in good condition.
Rabies vaccinations will also be administered during the same clinic as part of the municipality’s preventative measures.
The health institute stated that these campaigns aim to reduce the number of stray dogs and cats, as overpopulation can cause problems for both animals and people.
It was also explained that sterilization helps prevent unplanned litters and reduces pet abandonment. Furthermore, it helps prevent diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans.
