Baja California Sur Strengthens Its Culinary Reputation with 22 Restaurants Recognized in the Michelin Guide 2026
From fine dining experiences to restaurants that work directly with local producers, Baja California Sur continues to prove that travel can begin around the table. The region’s culinary scene has grown significantly in recent years and has become one of the main reasons visitors choose to explore the destination.
That evolution was reaffirmed during the Michelin Guide 2026 Plaque Ceremony, held at Manta inside The Cape, A Thompson Hotel. The event brought together chefs, restaurateurs, tourism officials, and industry representatives to recognize the 22 restaurants in Baja California Sur included in the 2026 Michelin Guide Selection.

Which Baja California Sur Restaurants Were Included in the Michelin Guide?
One of the biggest additions this year was NEMI, located in La Paz, which received its first Michelin Guide plaque as part of the official selection.
Led by chef Alejandro Villagómez, the restaurant offers contemporary cuisine built around local ingredients from Baja California Sur, international techniques, and a creative interpretation of the region’s culinary traditions. Its inclusion demonstrates that the state’s gastronomic scene extends well beyond Los Cabos and continues expanding throughout the peninsula.

Among the restaurants that retained their distinctions, Cocina de Autor successfully maintained its Michelin Star, an honor reserved for restaurants demonstrating exceptional culinary excellence.
Meanwhile, Acre and Flora’s Field Kitchen retained their Michelin Green Star, recognizing restaurants committed to sustainable practices, responsible resource management, and close collaboration with local producers.
In the Bib Gourmand category, which highlights restaurants offering outstanding quality at accessible prices, Metate, Cocina de Campo by Agricole, and Flora’s Field Kitchen all retained their recognition. Flora’s Field Kitchen once again demonstrated that memorable dining experiences depend not only on the final dish but also on the way ingredients are sourced and utilized.

A Destination Where Food Is Part of the Journey

The Michelin Guide’s recognition reinforces what many travelers have already discovered: in Baja California Sur, exceptional dining is no longer simply part of the vacation—it has become one of its primary attractions.
According to the Los Cabos Tourism Board, 14% of visitors identify dining experiences and restaurant visits as their main reason for traveling to the destination.
This segment spends an average of approximately 5,900 pesos per person per day, with about 1,800 pesos allocated specifically to food and beverages. Additionally, the region’s culinary experiences receive an 84% recommendation rate among visitors.
Part of the destination’s appeal lies in its diversity. During a single trip, travelers can enjoy fine dining overlooking the ocean, visit agricultural projects focused on seasonal ingredients, discover artisan bakeries, or dine at restaurants where the surrounding desert landscape becomes part of the experience.
With 22 restaurants recognized in the 2026 Michelin Guide, Baja California Sur demonstrates that its culinary identity is not defined by a single star or a passing trend. Instead, it is built upon local ingredients, talented culinary teams, and restaurants capable of making a single meal the centerpiece of an entire journey.
For many travelers, the next visit to Los Cabos, La Paz, or Todos Santos may begin not with booking a flight, but with choosing where to have dinner first.
