The health alert for Covid-19 has been left behind in Los Cabos. Since 2019, this destination has experienced an annual growth between 10 and 12% in the number of rooms. By 2023, the Los Cabos Hotel Association indicated that it expects the opening of new properties exclusively aimed at the luxury segment.

Luxury brands such as the Four Seasons, St. Regis and Hyatt Park have decided to invest in Los Cabos with new hotel developments that exceed 100 million dollars. Despite the economic problems generated by the pandemic, businessmen continued to bet on the destination, which caused more international companies to be interested in investing in Los Cabos, according to Lilzi Orcí Fregoso, representative of the hotel sector in the destination.

“In Los Cabos we have experienced 10-12% annual growth in inventory prior to 2020. As I have mentioned before, we have been very fortunate that no construction or new opening notices have been cancelled. Obviously, the opening times undergo some changes due to the period in which the economy was stopped. However, all the projects went ahead, and others were added”.

Between 2023 and 2024, Los Cabos expects the opening of 1,000 new rooms. Regarding the coming years, the Hotel Association explained that the opening of new brands is contemplated, although the number of rooms that these tourist developments is still unknown.

“This year we hope to open around 640 more rooms in the destination and next year, around 300. We are going to open almost a thousand rooms in two years. In addition, there are other properties that have already started construction, but due to the size of these projects, they will open in 2025 or later. Investors continue to bet on Los Cabos to open new properties. This speaks highly of the results we are obtaining”.

A characteristic of the luxury hotels found in Los Cabos is that they register an average rate per night of more than a thousand dollars. Los Cabos offers visitors exclusive high-end hotels that have even been recognized by different rankings worldwide such as TripAdvisor, Forbes and Travel + Leisure, among others, and that are also part of the Virtuoso list.

Properties such as Las Ventas al Paraíso, One & Only Palmilla, Grand Velas Los Cabos and Montage are some of the luxury hotels that have been recognized as the best in Mexico and the world.
