The victory grants significant points for participation in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games

The event featured the presence of thousands of competitors who, amid cheers, showed their support, especially for the Mexicans; about 4 participants were part of this triathlon.

The start and finish line were at the tourist boardwalk of La Paz, they swam through the Sea of Cortez and enjoyed the sunset as they made their best effort to achieve victory.

And it was not in vain; Mexico took gold in the elite – Olympic male and female categories, thanks to Aram Peñaflor and Rosa Tapia; a native of Jalisco and a native of Sonora, respectively.

Susana Galindo, a member of the Triathlon Federation, pointed out that the score obtained in this event favors the world competitions and could undoubtedly be of great help for the pass to the 2028 Olympic Games.

‘In the elite category, the score helps in the world triathlon ranking. But right now, the Olympic selections for the Paris Olympics are already made,’ she detailed.

Previously, more than 4 Mexicans have achieved the pass to the Olympic Games as a result of participating in past editions; for example, Rosa Tapia from Sonora, also a winner of this triathlon. This demonstrates the rigor and relevance of the event.

A purse of 15,000 pesos is the prize that will be distributed among the first places in each category.

In summary, the awards ceremony was held for the following categories: Male and Female Duathlon; 14 – 15 Male and Female; Male Super Sprint; Woman Up; Elite Male and Female; Standard Male and Female; Standard Relays; Male and Female Sprint; and Sprint Relays.”
