VIDEO: Tourist in Los Cabos Requests Removal of Band Group from the Beach; Did She Offer a Bribe to the Inspector?

The incident occurred at El Médano Beach, the only beach frequented by band ensembles in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. A tourist, apparently foreign, approached inspectors on El Médano Beach to complain about the musicians who were offering songs to visitors.

The events were captured in a video circulating on the social media platform TikTok. The video shows a group of musicians attending to a group of national tourists, with a red tuba standing out. Apparently, the sound of this regional music was the center of annoyance for the foreign tourists.

The tourist approaches the inspectors to complain while someone else records the moment. The inspector approaches the ensemble and tells them that “they have already complained about the tuba,” while the musician informs him that they have the necessary permits.

The person recording makes various expressions in English and Spanish, indicating that if she doesn’t like what she sees, she should go back to her country. She records how the tourist returns to her beach chair, saying, “Hey, look, ma’am, if you don’t like it, go back to your country; this is Mexico.”

“Hey, TikTok people, here we go again. We’re in Los Cabos now. All the TikTok people, this is going to go viral with all these folks,” says the person recording.

The video also captures national tourists complaining that the musicians are not allowed to play. At that moment, the foreign tourist approaches the inspector who was leaving the area after warning the musicians and offers him a bill.

“Hey, look, grab the money, friend. Hey! Take it,” they shout at the inspector, who is already on his red quad bike, leaving the place.

Boos are heard as they continue recording the tourist returning to her beach chair.

“Boooo! Ordinary people!” is heard to conclude the video, which lasts just under 2 minutes.

At various times, there have been complaints from tourists and business owners about an “excessive” number of street vendors and service providers on this beach, one of the busiest in the port of Cabo San Lucas.

This beach is the only one frequented by band ensembles, but according to residents, such a clear rejection or protest had not been seen recently as the one recorded this week and circulating on social media today.
