The most popular beaches during this holiday season in Baja California Sur are in optimal cleanliness, following sampling conducted by the Ministry of Health at more than twenty of them.
The agency confirmed that the results of the samples taken from 39 locations along different coastlines in the five municipalities of Baja California Sur indicate that their quality is adequate, below the bacterial limits allowed by official regulations.
The Deputy Commissioner for Health Promotion of the State Commission for Protection Against Sanitary Risks, René Cota Avendaño, explained that the results showed fewer than 200 enterococcus units per 100 milliliters, which guarantees their optimal condition for use.
“Both vacationers and locals can rest assured that they can enjoy these natural spaces,” he stated.
He specified that in La Paz, samples were taken from three different areas of the boardwalk: El Comitán, Gran Baja, Coromuel, La Concha, Caimancito, Tesoro, Eréndira, Pichilingue, Balandra, Tecolote, and Los Barriles.
In the international destination of Los Cabos, samples were taken from the most visited beaches: Chileno, Palmilla, Costa Azul, San Carlos, and Empacadora. Additionally, samples were taken from four different areas of El Médano, Santa María, Cabo del Sol, La Ribera, and Buenavista beaches.
The commissioner emphasized that the indicators confirmed by the State Public Health Laboratory indicated that these areas are in good condition for use and called on the public to collaborate in the conservation of these spaces.
He asked tourists and residents who visit the beaches in these destinations (La Paz, Los Cabos, and Loreto are the most visited) to remember to take their trash with them, not to leave containers on the sand or in the mangroves, and much less to throw them into the sea.
He reminded everyone that food waste should not be buried or abandoned, but that families should bring their own bags to collect trash before leaving the beach.
