A video has begun circulating on social media showing two young men, ages 27 and 22, who were reported missing a few days ago.
In the video, which is just 1 minute and 29 seconds long, the two men hold a sign that reads: “Pay attention to your children” and “The truth told by them.”
The young men were identified as Juan Luis Chico Torres, 27, and Omar Antonio García Rosas, 22. They were reported missing on March 21 in the community of San José del Cabo. This prompted protests by family and friends of the two men, who even blocked access to the airport.
In the recording, both admit that they were abducted for selling a type of marijuana known as “exotic marijuana,” which they allegedly received via packages.
They also point to a group of young people who distribute the drugs, which were received through DHL packages in bags of dog food.
The two men expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to “leave them alive.” It should be noted that the video was shared on Juan Luis Chico Torre’s own social media accounts, and he tagged alleged family members and some of the participants in the marijuana distribution network.
“Good evening, my name is Juan Luis Chico Torres, I’m 29 years old, I’m an adult, a person aware of my actions, who knows what I’m doing. Previously, I was in a situation like this because I was smuggling drugs into the Cereso prison (…) so they could be trafficked there,” one of the young men says in the video.
“We ordered this marijuana by mail; it arrived via DHL. It came in boxes, and inside the boxes were bags of dog food, and the marijuana was inside the dog food bags. We received between 1 and 4 kilos approximately, and we were in charge of bagging and reselling it. I am very sorry for what I did, and thank you very much to the people who gave us another chance at life,” he says.
The other young man apologizes and also gives thanks for another chance at life.
After an intense day of family members demanding that authorities find Juan Luis Chico Torres alive—a young man who disappeared on March 21—it was reported early Tuesday morning that he had been found alive, along with three other missing young men.
The State Commission for the Search of Missing Persons published the four missing person posters for Edwin David Ceseña Borquez, Gabriel Everardo Rosas Rivera, Juan Luis Chico Torres, and Omar Antonio García Rosas, with the word “located.”
Authorities reported that the search protocol for the missing young men had been deactivated. It should be noted that on the night of March 23, a video was posted on the young man’s own social media accounts in which both he and Omar García Rosas admitted to selling drugs.
