Within the framework of World Environmental Education Day, young sea turtle protectors received recognition as part of the “Murals of Gloria Juventud Cabeña” Program, promoted by the Youth Institute in the municipality of Los Cabos.
They gave public recognition to Karime Stephania Solano León and Héctor Gustavo Hernández Ceseña for their initiatives and contribution at the municipal level to the care and preservation of the environment, in their case for more than 3 years dedicated to the conservation of turtles and seacock on a voluntary basis.
The recognition consists of the creation of a mural by a local artist, which reflects their conservationist essence, which includes the name of each of them and a thank you, likewise each one received the amount of 5,000 pesos.
It should be noted that the program in addition to recognizing and encouraging youth talent and initiative through the categories: Art, Academic Achievement, Disability and Integration, Sport and finally Social or Environmental Commitment; Another objective is to support and promote the local arts sector, for which reason, in addition to the two winners per category, each team of artists that participated in the creation of the murals received an economic stimulus.
Graciela Tiburcio Pintos, head of the Marine Turtle Protection Network, said that it is very satisfactory that they recognize the work of the volunteers, young enthusiasts who are not the future but the here and now of the conservation of natural resources in the municipality of Los Cabos.
