The total expenditure of tourists from other countries rose 6.2% in July compared to the same month, but from 2019.
International tourism to Mexico continues to recover month after month. However, it is still below pre-pandemic levels. In July, the arrival of tourists from abroad was 3.3 million, a drop of 18.6 percent compared to the same month in 2019.
According to the Survey of International Travelers of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), Mexico received 77,417 international tourists during the seventh month of the year, this in comparison to the same month a couple of years ago.
Although the level of arrivals is still recovering, the total expenditure of tourists from other countries has increased 6.2 percent in July compared to the same month of 2019.
In other words, the inflow of tourist foreign currency went from 1,993.9 billion dollars in the seventh month of 2019 to 2,118 billion dollars during the same period of this year, Inegi pointed out this Friday.
Meanwhile, the average expenditure of international tourists has registered an increase of 30 percent in the same period of comparison indicated, going from 479 dollars a couple of years ago, that is, before the pandemic, to almost 626 dollars.
