The Baja Ferries boat service was suspended from the port of Topolobampo, Sinaloa, to La Paz, Baja California Sur, due to technical issues. The company did not elaborate further on the reasons for canceling the trip the night before last, but emphasized that the integrity of the passengers, workers, and cargo is of interest.
It is correct that if the boat had some technical problem, it should not set sail to avoid something more serious if it became more complicated at sea. It was not made public what technical issues the boat had that led to the suspension of the departure.
What is certain is that the company is leaving much to be desired in the attention to the affected passengers. They purchased tickets to return to their homes in Baja California, but there has been no direct contact with them despite the fact that they remained at the terminal. Speaking with them, supporting them, is the least that could be done. And it was not done.
