More than 100 children and young people from Los Cabos experienced a moment that will shape their path in sports. On Friday, May 31, 2024, the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) joined forces to organize a sports clinic called “A Day with the 49ers.”
The training was led by Patrick Willis, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and a member of the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame; Sofy Navarro, Senior Manager of the 49ers; and Diana Flores, brand ambassador for Los Cabos and World Flag Football Champion. They shared their experiences through talks and practical knowledge with the participants.
The day began early with breakfast, followed by a dance activity that kicked off the talks by Patrick Willis and Diana Flores with the attendees. Subsequently, team games and physical training allowed them to share the ball with the celebrities. A press conference with media outlets was also held.
In his remarks, the former 49ers player emphasized that the partnership between the American team and Los Cabos would be of great benefit. “Life is about connections, and there is no better connection than the one between California, the 49ers, and Mexico. It’s always wonderful to spend time here, and I plan to return very soon and more frequently,” he stated.
Diana Flores highlighted that beyond creating an alliance between Los Cabos and the 49ers, this opportunity aims to change lives through sports. “Today, more than ever, we find ourselves at an important moment to continue building bridges and tools for our future generations, empowering them to achieve their dreams on and off the field. I am very proud that Los Cabos is making purposeful efforts with an objective that goes beyond cultural ties—it truly seeks and works toward positive change,” she said.
For FITURCA, this collaboration played a crucial role in Los Cabos’ strategic objectives of increasing tourist flow and strengthening its position in the American market, particularly with the Californian city of San Francisco.
From January to March of this year, Los Cabos welcomed 41,350 tourists from San Francisco, representing a 35.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Currently, California accounts for 23.6% of Los Cabos’ visitors. This collaboration with the 49ers was a key factor in making Los Cabos a favorite destination for residents of California and San Francisco.
